File:Linear-Paul-trap Schindler NJP15.123012.jpg
A three-panel figure: a photograph of a linear blade Paul trap, plus front and side line drawings of its electrodes. It comes from Schindler, Nigg, Monz and co-authors (NJP 15, 123012, 2013) and shows the trap used in the Blatt group's quantum information experiments in Innsbruck; the endcaps are 5 mm apart and the RF blades 1.6 mm. Radio-frequency voltage on the four blades holds ions radially while the tip electrodes confine them along the axis, lining them up as a string of ion qubits. “Linear-Paul-trap Schindler NJP15.123012” by Philipp Schindler et al., commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Linear-Paul-trap_Schindler_N…, CC BY 3.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/)
