Fig. 1 — Representative single-shot image of single caesium atoms across an 11,998-site tweezer array תמונה חיצונית — נפתחת במקור
Fluorescence image (panel a of Fig. 1) of single caesium atoms, each a bright spot on a square grid of optical-tweezer sites, filling a roughly circular region on black. It is from 'A tweezer array with 6,100 highly coherent atomic qubits' by Hannah J. Manetsch, Manuel Endres and colleagues (Caltech), Nature, September 2025. Each tweezer is a focused laser spot holding at most one atom; notice the random gaps, since loading is chance-based and atoms must later be rearranged to fill a defect-free array.
Fig. 1 — Representative single-shot image of single caesium atoms across an 11,998-site tweezer array (arXiv preprint version) תמונה חיצונית — נפתחת במקור
Five-panel paper figure: a single-shot fluorescence image of caesium atoms randomly loaded into tweezers 7.2 µm apart across a ~900 µm circle; an averaged image of the ~12,000-site grid; a line drawing of the optics (two spatial light modulators, objective, qCMOS camera); a loading histogram; and a table of performance figures. From the arXiv preprint (18 March 2024) 'A tweezer array with 6100 highly coherent atomic qubits' by Manetsch, Endres and colleagues (Caltech). Notice only about half the sites hold an atom, so atoms must be rearranged.
